Data and Biosamples
By continuing to participate in the BC Generations Project, you will be helping to find new ways to prevent and treat major diseases like cancer and other chronic diseases.

Baseline Health & Lifestyle Questionnaire
As part of registration for the Project, participants completed our baseline health & lifestyle questionnaire, which looked at things such as:
- Demographics
- Personal and family health history
- Sleep patterns
- Physical activity
- Alcohol and tobacco use
- Environmental exposures
- Work History
Residential History Questionnaire
Nearly 22,000 BCGP participants took part in the Residential History Questionnaire in 2016-2017. Researchers will use these responses to explore how one’s living conditions and exposures may interact with their health over time.
Occupational History Questionnaire
Nearly 16,000 BCGP participants completed the Occupational History Questionnaire in 2018, which asked questions about one’s work environment. Researchers will use these responses to learn more about the impact of one’s workplace and how its impact on their health.
COVID-19 Questionnaire
The COVID-19 Questionnaire was launched in Summer 2020, where nearly 18,000 BCGP participants answered questions related to the COVID-19/Coronavirus pandemic.
Follow-Up Questionnaires
Because the BC Generations Project is a long-term health study, one of the things that researchers are interested is how your health changes over time. From time to time, we track our participants’ health over time by asking them to complete additional follow-up questionnaires.
The questions asked will be similar to those asked in the baseline questionnaire. However, there may be additional questions on previously unasked health topics.
The first follow-up questionnaire concluded in 2017, with nearly 23,000 participants completing the questionnaire. We will continue to contact participants to participate in follow-up questionnaires and smaller study activities.
Moving? Don’t Lose Touch!BCGP Biobank
Biosamples are invaluable resources to a wide array of studies. By conducting rigorous analyses on these biosamples, researchers can uncover patterns, correlations, and insights that help decipher the underlying mechanisms of diseases, identify potential treatment targets, and enhance our understanding of human health and biology.
Blood Samples Collected
Urine Samples Collected
DNA Samples Extracted
