This month, Dr. John Spinelli is stepping down from his leadership role with the BC Generations Project. John has been the Project’s Principal Investigator and Scientific Director since 2011, and played an essential role in the success to date of BC’s largest-ever cancer prevention study. During his tenure as Principal Investigator, John oversaw the recruitment of 71% of the BC Generations Project recipients. John also directed the successful running of assessment centres throughout the province, and oversaw the retrospective collection of blood samples which led to BC’s distinction of having a blood sample on the highest percentage of participants of any cohort within the Canadian Partnership for Tomorrow Project (CPTP). Finally, John has managed the BCGP transition from recruitment to utilization, including the development of the gold standard access policies and procedures which ensure that participants’ data and samples are only utilized for high quality research. John will continue to represent the BC Generations Project as a member of the CPTP Strategic Advisory Board, and will continue working with the BC Generations Project as a researcher.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of two very well-respected scientists to co-lead the Project: Nhu Le and Trevor Dummer.
